Thank you to everyone who came along to the Burley Model Allotments Show 2026 on [DATE]. In bright sunshine, the allotment site in Burley, Leeds, was busy with plot-holders, families and neighbours all afternoon, making this one of our best-attended shows yet.
Prize-winning fruit and vegetables
The show tables were packed with entries grown right here on the allotments. Competition was strong in classic classes such as three onions from seed and one cucumber, and the giant pumpkins outside the marquee drew plenty of admirers. Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who entered. Every entry makes the show what it is.
Fun for all ages
The children's section was a highlight, with wonderful nature and garden pictures from our youngest gardeners. The animal made from fruit and veg class brought out some brilliant creativity, from courgette creatures to a very convincing penguin. The tallest sunflower class, judged on the plots, showed just how well things grew this summer.
Cakes, tea and community
Our volunteers kept everyone well fed with a fantastic cake stall: strawberry cake, carrot cake, lemon drizzle, tea loaf, tiffin and vegan samosas, all home-made. Money raised helps support the allotment society.
Thank you
A huge thank you to the committee, judges, bakers and helpers who made the day possible.
